Yuh has its own TWINT application. Neon, on the other hand, uses UBS’s TWINT app. We talk about this alternative in our guide to using TWINT with Neon. Of course, the resource savings of not having a dedicated application go directly to the development of the successful Neon app, but…
From the user’s point of view, Yuh deserves its lead.
Payments in Switzerland: a slight Yuh advantage
Compatible platforms for paying with your smartphone or watch ⌚️:
Yuh: Apple Pay / Google Pay / Samsung Pay
Neon: Apple Pay / Google Pay / Samsung Pay / SwatchPAY! / Garmin Pay

For foreign transfers, Neon and Yuh work differently:
With Neon, SEPA transfers are not available, but the app directly integrates the Wise service, the most advantageous and fastest on the market with a markup of only 0.40%. The application displays conversion fees in real-time.
Yuh offers free SEPA transfers in EUR or 4 CHF for other currencies. The currency conversion rate of 0.95% is fixed for all currencies.
International transfers: Neon and Yuh equal by equivalence
Neon vs. Yuh: exchange fees travel abroad
Neon and Yuh do not charge transaction fees, but do charge currency conversion fees.
For foreign transactions and withdrawals, Neon is the least expensive. It converts at the Mastercard / Visa reference rate without surcharge. This rate is applied to every foreign transaction, since Neon is a CHF account.
As Yuh is a multi-currency account, fees depend on the situation:
● No conversion fees if the currency is already funded on the account. This is normal.
● A fee of 0.95% on top of the actual interbank rate for currency conversion.
🏧 For cash withdrawals at ATMs, fees are:
● 1.5% fee with Neon
● CHF 4.90 per withdrawal with Yuh
Neon gives its users the greatest advantage.

Neon ✔︎ offers an interest rate of 0.50% on amounts up to 25,000 CHF if the money is placed in Spaces (virtual savings accounts). For amounts over CHF 25,000, the rate drops to 0.25%.
In comparison, most other banks do not automatically pay interest on savings. This is a good point for both neo-banks.

Yuh customer service vs. Neon
The distinctive feature of neo-banks is often the absence of a physical network. This reduces costs but puts even more emphasis on the quality of customer service. Yuh and Neon understand this well, and their smooth and personalized customer experience is part of the deal. Professionalism is guaranteed, but the lack of direct human contact can be frustrating for some people when dealing with complex issues.
Apart from a few practical differences, it’s easy to get in touch with these two banks by telephone on working days, or by e-mail at weekends.
Yuh ✔︎ can be reached until 10pm.
Neon ✘ can be reached until 5:00 pm.
No in-app interaction: apart from the ability to send a screenshot with a message to support, neither Yuh nor Neon offers live chat with support as in Revolut and N26.
Customer service: Yuh advantage
